The focus of this class was to introduce the principles of educational technology and create a foundation for future learning. We learned about technology mindset, TPACK, learning theories and problem-solving. This course introduced a way of thinking about incorporating technology into education by reflecting on the purpose and being mindful about its use. We created an innovative learning project where I was able to explore adding technology into a lesson in a meaningful way. We also were asked to explore our own learning and reflect on how technology can impact it.

This course focused on looking at teaching and learning creatively. I have always considered myself creative in how I present material in class. This course helped hone my skills and support them with research based readings. I did an in depth look at the concept of short stories and create new ways to explore old ideas. It pushed me to reimagining what I have been teaching, and gave me a deeper understanding of the content by examining it though different lenses.

This course focused on the Stanford's Design Process. It was a practical application of the model applied to a problem that was student selected. I selected learning engagement in the at-risk population. Throughout the course we were asked to tackle our problem by exploring the many facets it has and ultimately create a tangible possible solution to the problem. I ended up developing a course that I am currently teaching in my school that links learning with real world experiences to teach the fundamentals of English.

This course focused on how to create authentic learning experiences in an online environment. It introduced many pitfalls teachers fall into when designing a course for online learning and gave potential solutions to avoid them. It also gave best practices for teaching online and how to create a course that is accessible to all students. This course came at the perfect time when all schools had to switch to remote learning and has provided many skills I am using in teaching my virtual classes this year.

This course explored the foundations to learning and how learning happens. It was similar to an educational psychology course where we explored the way people learn by looking at the multiple learning theories. By looking at the different theories, we were asked to develop our own theory of learning and how learning occurs. Many of the concepts were not new to me, but the way they were presented and the connections that it cause me to make helped in exploring the problem of student engagement that I focused on for much of my graduate work.

This course asked us to take the role of a leader in technology. It presented the different types of leadership styles and then had us reflect on where we fell within the continuum. I created a professional development for my school staff that highlights areas for growth in using technology. I identified areas for improvement in my leadership skills and created a study program to better my self. Overall, I gained a sense of who I am as a leader and what I need to do to become a great leader.

A culmination of the learning over the course of the program to create a professional portfolio summarizing our learning over the course of my masters program. It had us look at how our view of technology has changed with our learning, what we have accomplished and what our next steps will be in our learning. The final assignment is what you are viewing in this website.
