I was born in Clinton Township, Michigan. After earning my high school diploma from Fraser High School in 1996, I began attending Wayne State University with the intention of becoming an elementary teacher. This changed shortly after my first semester. I fell in love with English after taking a Shakespearean literature class and decided to change my major. Since the literature I was most passionate about was meant for older students, I also decided to pursue secondary education. In 1999, I transferred to Eastern Michigan University. I graduated in 2001 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and American Literature and Language with minors in Psychology and Theater Arts and Communication.
I began teaching at Utica Learning Academy and Adult Education in 2002, a night school program, and spent days subbing in various districts until I was hired at North Lake High School in 2003. I worked at both schools for over 10 years and continued working at North Lake High School. While at Eastern Michigan University, I met my husband, and we married in 2006. We love going camping and spending time at the family cabin by Alpena, Michigan. In my free time, I enjoy reading, computers, painting, playing games and making jewelry. |
